About our name

Acanthus is a family of Mediterranean perennial herbs with intricately patterned leaves and small, showy flowers.  The acanthus is a plant that has inspired artists and architects for millenia. It stands for quality, logevity and creativity. It is native to the Mediterranean and bears flowers that can be white, lilac-pink, or purple tinged. However, it is the leaves, not the flowers, that have historically attracted the most attention due to their abundant, long, dark green arching foliage. The acanthus appeared for the first time in the arts in ancient Greece. It was often chosen for its decorative purposes.

We chose this name because the Acanthus plant is a symbolic link to longevity, creativity and intricate attention to detail commonly found in art featuring the acanthus.
